Introducing the Sunflower Lanyard on safari!

We're thrilled to announce that Sunflower Lanyards and Lapel Pins are now recognised across Knowsley Safari. This beautiful initiative aims to make Knowsley Safari even more accessible for all guests. Our staff are always here to help, but these lanyards mean we can be even more aware of our visitors needs!

But what is the Sunflower?

If you haven't heard of this amazing scheme before here's some useful information:

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower has been purposefully designed to act as a discreet sign to staff that the wearer has a hidden disability and may require additional assistance. Not all people with hidden disabilities require assistance. However we believe there is an optional opportunity to provide them with a ‘discreet sign’ which demonstrates to staff that they may need additional support or help.

How does it work?

The Hidden Disabilities lanyard is intended for guests who might need assistance. It's simple really! If our staff see somebody wearing the lanyard, pin badge or lapel ribbon, we'll simply ask “Do you need a hand with anything?” This could be anything from finding you a seat, taking your order and deliver it to you or even finding you a quiet space.

If you need a Sunflower Lanyard and don't already have one we'll be happy to provide one. Just ask at the front gates! As stock is limited we kindly request guests return the lanyard to the information centre at the end of their day with us.

Accessibility

This additional support for our guests follows the addition of our range of mobility scooters, wheelchairs and strollers for hire on our Foot Safari from the information centre. Find our more about accessibility at Knowsley Safari below.
